Welcome to Our Christian-Based Early Learning Preschool
At our school, we believe that every child is a unique masterpiece, and it's our mission to nurture each one's potential while instilling strong Christian values. Serving children aged 2 to 5 years, we combine a comprehensive academic curriculum with teachings that celebrate faith, kindness, and community.

Holistic Education for Growing Hearts and Minds

Our educational approach is designed to educate the whole child across five vital developmental areas: cognitive, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional. By fostering growth in these areas, we create well-rounded individuals who are ready to thrive in school and beyond.
  • Cognitive Development: Our carefully crafted curriculum aligns with state standards while embracing the principles of inquiry-based learning. Through imaginative play and hands-on exploration, we encourage young minds to marvel at the wonders of their surroundings and develop essential skills for lifelong learning.

  • Spiritual Growth: At the heart of our school community lies a strong foundation of faith. We weave Biblical principles into daily activities, teaching children the joy of kindness, compassion, and respect for others. Through stories, songs, and engaging worship, we help our students cultivate a relationship with God and develop a sense of purpose.

  • Physical Development: Movement and physical activity are crucial during these early years. Our dynamic programs encourage children to explore their bodies through structured play, outdoor adventures, and creative movement, contributing to overall health and well-being.

  • Social Skills: Building friendships and understanding social dynamics is vital for young learners. We create opportunities for cooperative play, teaching children the values of teamwork, empathy, and communication, ensuring they grasp the significance of nurturing relationships in their lives.

  • Emotional Understanding: Our dedicated teachers are equipped to guide children through the beautiful, yet often challenging, landscape of emotions. We foster self-awareness, encourage emotional expression, and support children in navigating their feelings with confidence and grace.

A Community of Respect and Belonging
Our talented educators bring a wealth of knowledge on early childhood development, coupled with a deep respect for each child's distinct attributes. They are committed to creating a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and heard. With individualized attention, we celebrate diversity and encourage resilience, paving the way for flourishing futures.
Parents who choose Armstrong Preschool appreciate the balanced approach to early childhood education. They find comfort in knowing that their children are not only being prepared academically but are also receiving guidance in their spiritual journey. This nurturing environment fosters a sense of community among families, who share a common goal of raising morally and emotionally resilient children. Overall, Armstrong Preschool stands out as a place where both the hearts and minds of young learners are cared for and cultivated.
As a school where learning and faith go hand in hand, we're thrilled to partner with families in laying a strong foundation for our children's educational journeys. Together, we will guide them as they grow, learn, and reflect the love of Christ in all their endeavors.

Child Development

Cognitive

We design activities that follow state standards and promote a love of learning. In that environment, we encourage creativity, curiosity, emerging literacy, language, investigation and math skills.  An ongoing assessment of the child is used to determine their needs and abilities and then work to move them forward.

Spiritual

We use Bible stories, dramatic play, prayer, songs and the Christian example of our teachers to increase a child’s understanding of God and His love.

Physical

Our physical environment is safe and encourages children to explore and take risks in both fine and gross motor areas.

Social

We value diversity among our learners.  We model behavior and support children in sharing, taking turns and working with others.

Emotional

We demonstrate respect for each child’s uniqueness by teaching with a balance of structure and free choice for children and include opportunities for both active and quiet times.  We create an environment where students are safe to express their feelings.
Typical Day
Children will rotate through classrooms providing the experiences below each day.  The  classrooms will include both teacher directed activities as well as time for student choice surrounding the current theme.  A small snack and drink will be provided each day. We are attentive to listed allergies. Please be sure the child’s medical form is current with any listed food allergies.

Literacy

Children will be immersed in a variety of language activities.  They may choose to read books in the reading corner, practice beginning writing at the writing center, tell stories with puppets in the puppet theater, or engage with one of the other language based games or toys.  The teacher will read and talk about a variety of literature, letters and letter sounds with the children.

Math and Science

Children will have the opportunity to explore their world by experimenting with materials such as magnifying glasses and magnets.  In addition, there will be opportunities for children to count, sort, measure, and compute with a variety of manipulatives.  The teacher will lead the children in exploring science and math through daily weather, calendar and other similar activities.

Art and Dramatic Play

Imagination and exploration will flourish as children choose to put on costumes and pretend to be someone new, pretend to cook in the kitchen, build structures with blocks, take care of dolls, or fix things with the tool bench.  There will also be many art and sensory materials to explore.  The teacher will lead children in an art activity and children who enjoy art can continue to create with tape, crayons, glue, stickers and other craft materials.

Bible Time

During Bible Time we will encourage each child’s spiritual growth.  Children will listen to a Bible story and engage in play related to the story.  They will pray, sing Christian songs and play instruments.

Large Motor Play

Large motor play will take place either outdoors on the playground or in the Fellowship Hall. Children will be able to enjoy riding toys, run, jump, slide, climb, play with balls, and explore in the sand table.

Toddler Class

Our toddlers have their own classroom with age appropriate math and literacy toys and activities.  They create with art materials in their classroom. Each day they spend time playing in our indoor and outdoor large motor areas.

Chapel
Here at Armstrong Preschool, our chapel classes serve as a nurturing environment for children to explore and embrace God's love firsthand. Through engaging in creative activities, uplifting music, and captivating storytelling, our young learners not only learn about the concept of faith but also experience the joy of the liturgy in a meaningful way. These chapel sessions at Armstrong Preschool are designed to instill a sense of wonder, spiritual growth, and connection, laying a strong foundation for a lifelong relationship with God. Chapel is a vibrant space where your child can flourish spiritually and emotionally.
Safety
The safety of your child is of the utmost importance to us. When children feel safe, they are better able to learn. Our safety procedures are reviewed on a regular basis and meet the standards set by the State of Ohio for Preschools. Safety is built into our everyday curriculum so that the children begin to learn safe behaviors early in life. In addition to our reviews and internal procedures, we use the following means to help us provide a safe environment:
  • There is always a staff member on site who is trained in CPR and first aid.
  • Toys are cleaned on a regular basis and monitored for broken pieces.
  • All classroom materials are evaluated for age appropriateness.
  • Doors into the building are locked between 9:15 and 11:55. If a parent needs to enter the building during that time, they must call the director who will then open the door.
  • Our school has fire, severe weather and lockdown procedures in place that have been reviewed with local police and fire departments.
  • Our playground is contained in an interior courtyard, removed from any access to parking lots or cars.
  • Our playground was built in 2010. We use rubber tiles as the surface under our playground.
